Question

My child is always moving around and can’t seem to stop, and I’m worried he might have a tic disorder. What are the symptoms of pediatric tic disorders? Is tic disorder also known as ADHD? Will treatment be more difficult? Will this condition no longer exist after a certain age?

Answer

In the early stages of tics, there may be relatively simple symptoms such as blinking, furrowing eyebrows, rapid blinking, twisting the neck, sniffing, and shaking the head. Without timely treatment, as the symptoms progress, more complex movements may occur, such as imitating barking, coughing sounds, and peculiar vocalizations. Abnormal behaviors may also be exhibited during tension. Often, after symptoms improve, children cannot remember what happened. Therefore, for children with tic disorders, timely treatment is essential.
