Question
Lately, my child has been repeating a certain movement without knowing why. Could he have Tic Disorders?
Answer
Tic disorders typically occur during childhood and adolescence, characterized by involuntary, repetitive, rapid motor tics, which may involve sounds or movements of one or more muscles. In addition to these symptoms, some children may also experience attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or obsessive-compulsive behaviors. Symptoms that persist for at least two weeks are referred to as transient tic disorders, while those lasting for over a year are classified as chronic tic disorders.
