Question

What is the cause of the small, breast-like protuberances that have appeared on the upper side of the armpit of a child’s two breasts?

Answer

Supernumerary breasts are quite common in women. Usually, there is no need to treat them. They should only be surgically removed if they are very large and affect appearance, or if there is a suspicion of malignant change. They have no impact on subsequent reproductive pregnancy. If the supernumerary breasts are small, surgery may not be necessary initially. Regular follow-up with color Doppler ultrasound should be done. If the supernumerary breasts grow too quickly or become larger, timely surgical removal should be performed.
