Question

How should chronic hand-foot syndrome be treated?

Answer

Chronic hand-foot syndrome is a chronic umbilical inflammation caused by neonatal umbilical cord detachment and regional foreign body irritation, leading to acute hand-foot syndrome, long-term non-healing or unhealed wounds, and irregular treatment. Small granulation wounds can be cauterized with 10% silver nitrate and then treated with antibiotic ointment. Large granulation wounds can be removed by surgery or cautery. Keep the umbilical fossa clean and dry. It is not advisable to use talcum powder on exudative wound surfaces to avoid stimulating granulation tissue growth.
