Question
Can children have post-concussion symptoms?
Answer
Most patients with concussions do not leave behind any residual symptoms. However, a small number of patients may experience symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, fatigue, anxiety, insomnia, and sensitivity to noise and light within one to three months after the injury. But these symptoms usually do not persist, and most patients eventually recover completely. If the baby’s neurological examination does not show any positive signs and everything is currently normal, it is generally not considered to have post-concussion syndrome. It is recommended to get plenty of rest, replenish energy and fluids, and closely monitor the baby’s condition.
