Question
What are the symptoms of esophageal foreign body perforation?
Answer
After an esophageal perforation, patients typically experience difficulty swallowing. Additionally, those with surrounding esophagitis or secondary mediastinitis may exhibit symptoms such as fever and increased white blood cell count. If the foreign body pierces through the esophageal wall and causes corrosion, leading to dense fibrosis around it or forming tracheal or bronchial fistulas, fever and persistent coughing may occur.
