Question

How long does it take for a neonatal hemolytic disease patient to recover after receiving albumin transfusions?

Answer

Neonatal hemolytic disease (nhd) refers to a condition where the mother has antibodies against the fetus’s blood type antigens due to incompatibility between the mother and the baby’s blood types. These antibodies pass through the placenta, causing a homologous immune hemolysis. The Rh blood group system and the ABO blood group system are found to be incompatible. Other causes of neonatal hemolysis include deficiencies in red cell enzymes or red cell membranes, each with its own name. Only hemolytic diseases caused by blood type incompatibility are called neonatal hemolytic disease.
