Question

My child has been born for about two days, and I’ve heard that newborns are particularly prone to jaundice after birth. However, my child hasn’t shown any jaundice yet. How long does it take for newborn jaundice to appear?

Answer

Hello, not every newborn will experience jaundice. Unless there is a blood type incompatibility, jaundice usually does not occur. Since your child has not shown any signs of jaundice yet, there should be no problem, and you need not worry. Theoretically, there should not be any symptoms of jaundice, and the baby’s skin should not turn yellow. Typically, most newborns will begin to show signs of jaundice with the skin turning yellow around 2 to 3 days after birth.
