Question

I’ve been experiencing blurred vision recently, with a sensation of something foreign inside my eye, and rubbing my eye produces a sandy feeling. The doctor diagnosed it as glaucoma. I want to know if this is an eye disease or if there’s something foreign inside the eye? Can it be cured? Can glaucoma be relieved?

Answer

Glaucoma is caused by increased intraocular pressure leading to damage of the optic nerve, resulting in eye pain and a decrease in vision, but not due to something growing inside the eye. Treatment involves surgery to lower intraocular pressure, which cannot be cured but can be alleviated through ongoing management.
