Question
The family next door’s house caught fire and everything was burned to nothing. Their child was burned during the fire and is currently in the hospital being checked. It’s really sad to see the child. I want to ask about pediatric burn treatment methods?
Answer
Before the cause of high fever is identified, or even if the cause has been found but the body temperature is difficult to lower, cooling therapy should be adopted to prevent severe consequences such as convulsions. Warm water baths are commonly used in the early stages of high fever accompanied by chills, followed by cold compresses or alcohol baths after chills disappear, until the skin turns red. Enema with cold saltwater can be administered in different doses according to the child’s age. Water-soluble chloral hydrate and aspirin can be added to saline solution in the same dosage as oral medication. Acupuncture or acupoint (Quchi) closure can be used.
