Question

Why is my baby suddenly vomiting frequently, even after patting their back and burping, they still vomit a lot?

Answer

Infant vomiting can be due to improper feeding or overstretching of the cardiac muscles. Parents should adjust the feeding method and ensure proper nutrition. The hole in the bottle should be of an appropriate size, and after feeding, the infant should be held upright and gently patted on the back to expel stomach gas. The infant should sleep with the head, neck, and back elevated and in a semi-fowler position on their right side about half an hour after drinking milk, which usually helps reduce or stop vomiting. For infants with overstretched cardiac muscles, milk should be diluted and supplemented to prevent regurgitation. This condition usually resolves on its own, but if symptoms are severe, medical treatment should be sought immediately.
