I’m about to become a mother, and I’ve heard that most newborns will have jaundice. I’m worried and scared. I’m not sure what jaundice is or what the symptoms are. Could you please tell me what the symptoms of neonatal jaundice are?

Jaundice primarily manifests as yellowing of the eyes, skin, and urine. Neonatal jaundice can be categorized into physiological jaundice (which usually occurs within the first week after birth) and pathological jaundice (which mostly occurs after one week). Most physiological jaundice resolves on its own, while pathological jaundice requires treatment. It’s recommended not to worry too much, but to keep an eye on it.
