Question

My baby was born five days ago and has developed jaundice. What should I do to remove the jaundice? We don’t want to take her to a pediatric hospital to suffer.

Answer

In most cases like this, it is considered physiological jaundice, which usually peaks around one week after birth and can subside in about a month. You can try giving your baby more water and, when the sun is out, take her out for appropriate sunbathing. If the jaundice is slightly high, you can try some medication, such as probiotics for yellowing. If it’s more severe, it’s best to seek hospital treatment for blue light therapy.
