Question
What are the causes of pain from spleen enlargement leading to metastatic pain? What are the treatment methods? Please provide medical advice.
Answer
There can be many causes of spleen enlargement. When the spleen is enlarged, red blood cells may become trapped and damaged within it, leading to a vicious circle: as more red blood cells become trapped, the spleen further enlarges, thereby increasing more red blood cell trapping. To identify the cause of spleen enlargement, it is recommended to start with routine blood tests and, if necessary, proceed to a bone marrow biopsy to determine if there is an underlying blood disease.
