Question
How should a newborn be bathed? Do you need to go to the hospital for treatment? How long will it take to see improvement after treatment?
Answer
If there is no specialized infant swimming service available at the local hospital or community, you can bathe the newborn at home. First, use a strong warm fan or oil stove to heat the bathroom to an appropriate temperature. As for the bath time, male infants should not exceed twenty minutes to avoid adverse effects on the genitals; female infants can be extended by about ten minutes. The water temperature should be maintained between 37 and 40 degrees. When bathing, start by washing the body and then wash the head last, covering the ears with your hand to prevent water from entering. You can use baby shampoo, but make sure to rinse it thoroughly afterwards. It is not recommended to turn on the air conditioner in the room as it may reduce the infant’s immunity. Adjust clothing according to the temperature of the baby’s hands and feet to keep the baby warm and comfortable.
