Question

Can a 4-month-old baby sit up? Do I need to take them to the hospital for treatment? How long will it take for them to recover? Please help me!

Answer

It is not recommended for a 4-month-old baby to start sitting up, as the second physiological curve of the spine, the lumbar curve, needs to form at around 6 months. Currently, sitting can affect the child’s growth and development. Generally, you can start to have your baby sit up appropriately after they are 5 months old, but be sure not to keep them sitting for too long. Normally, around 6 months of age, children will learn to sit up independently for a short period, as their body weight does not yet have enough strength to support themselves.
