Question

Dear Doctor, my 7-month-old baby’s sleep quality isn’t very good. What advice do you have?

Answer

It’s normal for a baby to wake up 7-8 times a night (from my experience). They only fall asleep if I hold them and sing before bed, and they wake up as soon as I put them down. Your baby is quite easy to handle. Usually, they eat thin congee made from rice flour and sometimes a little steamed egg mixed with water to form a milk-like consistency. Feeding is quite manageable. As for height, children grow slowly. As long as they are well-nourished and dressed appropriately, not too much or too little, try to allow the baby to move freely (my baby gets very happy when undressed, so it seems that children also need freedom). It’s very important to develop good sleep habits, try to avoid moving the child around too much before bedtime.
