Question

Hello doctor, what can children eat to quickly supplement calcium? Anyone knows, please let me know.

Answer

If a child has a mild calcium deficiency, it can be supplemented through diet. For babies under six months old, if breastfed, the mother should consume more calcium-rich foods such as beef, mutton, fish, and shrimp; if formula-fed, choose higher-calcium formula. For babies over six months old, complementary foods can be introduced, and calcium-rich foods can be given directly to the baby, but the preparation should be fine and soft. For babies with severe calcium deficiency, glucose acid calcium solution can be taken orally, along with fish liver oil intake. Moreover, it’s important to let the baby get plenty of sunlight daily, ideally for two hours, to promote calcium absorption.
