Newborns can use mupirocin ointment. Mupirocin is a macrolide antibiotic with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It is effective against most Gram-positive bacteria, some Gram-negative bacteria, and certain atypical pathogens (such as chlamydia and mycoplasma). It is commonly used to treat purulent skin infections and Staphylococcus aureus infections resistant to penicillin. Mupirocin ointment has minimal stimulating and is suitable for the delicate skin of infants. Under the guidance of a doctor, appropriate use is permissible. However, it should not be used frequently or for extended periods.
