Question

Is it difficult to feed my newborn with breast milk? I’m very worried, as this symptom recurs frequently in my child, and we have had checks done. I hope the doctor can help us.

Answer

If the baby falls asleep after not eating enough milk and wakes up hungry soon after, and this cycle repeats, both the mother and the baby will be too tired, and the baby will not sleep well. For newborns, the effective feeding time for one breastfeeding session is about 10-15 minutes, which means the baby needs to suckle for at least 10 minutes to be adequately fed. If they fall asleep before that time, it’s likely that there’s an issue. Such babies are often referred to as ‘snack ghosts,’ and we should not allow them to develop this bad habit. It’s advisable to establish a regular feeding schedule for your baby.
