Question

Does my daughter need a shot after being bitten by a kid? Do I need to go to the hospital for treatment? How long will it take for her to recover? Please help me!

Answer

Teeth contain many bacteria, but a bite mark is just a skin impression left on the skin, so there’s no need to worry too much. You can use iodine alcohol to disinfect the wound and no shot is necessary. Normally, encourage your child to have good communication with other kids in kindergarten and try to avoid fights as much as possible. Report any incidents to the teacher immediately. If someone bites your child, it’s fine; it won’t cause rabies infection. If the wound doesn’t break the skin, there’s no need for anti-inflammatory treatment. You can apply a cold compress to the wound.
