Question

What tests should be conducted for pediatric leukemia?

Answer

If there is a suspicion of leukemia in a child, the following two tests should be conducted: Firstly, a routine blood test to evaluate whether there is an abnormal number of white blood cells in the peripheral blood, whether there is anemia, and whether there are abnormalities in platelet counts, and to detect the presence of immature cells in the peripheral blood. Secondly, a bone marrow aspiration test to understand the proportion of leukemia cells in the bone marrow cells, and to perform cytological, immunological, molecular biological, and cytogenetic examinations.
