Question
The baby cannot lift their head independently and can only tilt their head to the right side. If supported on the right side, they can lift their head, but it is still unstable. This situation has not been through the prone lifting exercise, and other developmental indicators are normal, only slightly underweight. Is this a normal phenomenon?
Answer
Generally, by two months old, a baby should be able to lift their head to look around. At three months, the baby should be able to lie on their back and turn to the side, touch objects with their hands, and make cooing sounds. Their head should be able to rotate 180 degrees following an object they see or a sound they hear. Pay attention to whether your baby shows the stepping reflex: when you support the baby with both hands and their feet touch the ground, do they exhibit a stepping exchange action as you gently move forward.
