Question

My child is 3 weeks old and has a small bump on their hand. Could it be hand, foot, and mouth disease?

Answer

What is the size and diameter of the bump on the hand? What is its color? How is the activity level? What is the softness and firmness when touched? Is the surface smooth? Are there any skin injuries? If the bump is not very small (large granules), of normal skin color, with no skin damage, activity, softness, and firmness that are acceptable, and without spreading to other areas, it is often round and regular in shape with no abnormal edges, it may be a benign lipoma. I suggest you take your child to the hospital for a detailed consultation with a doctor, get plenty of rest, and avoid eating spicy foods.
