Question
What methods can be used to check if a child has ADHD?
Answer
Children with ADHD often do not show obvious symptoms. One common method of checking is to observe the child’s finger movement coordination. In this test, the child is asked to clench one hand into a fist and use the thumb of the other hand to sequentially touch the tips of the other fingers. Then, the child needs to switch hands and repeat the same action, touching the other fingers in both forward and reverse directions (i.e., index - middle - ring - little or little - ring - middle - index). During this process, the doctor will observe the child’s finger movement coordination. If the child cannot complete this test quickly and flexibly, it may be considered a positive indicator for ADHD.
