Question
Are there genetic factors related to ADHD? How can it be prevented?
Answer
About 40% of children with ADHD have parents, siblings, and other relatives who also suffered from the condition in their childhood. The incidence of ADHD in identical twins is significantly higher than in fraternal twins. The prevalence of ADHD among siblings is higher than that among half-siblings and half-siblings, as well as among ordinary children. All of this indicates a close relationship between genetic factors and ADHD.
