These children have normal or nearly normal intelligence, but they exhibit deficits in learning, behavior, and emotions. ADHD is primarily characterized by difficulties in maintaining attention, narrow attention span, short periods of attention, excessive activity in inappropriate situations, and emotional impulsiveness. These symptoms are usually out of proportion to their age and developmental level.
