Question
My child has small blisters on their hands and feet, which may be hand, foot, and mouth disease. What are the symptoms of this disease?
Answer
Hand, foot, and mouth disease is an infectious disease caused by a virus infection. Children typically experience symptoms such as low fever, general discomfort, and abdominal pain in the initial stage. Within one to two days, pain may occur in the mouth, throat, soft palate, and oral mucosa. Inside the mouth, there may be painful vesicles with red halos around them, ranging in size from millet to mung bean. These vesicles may break open into small ulcers. In addition, blisters may appear on the back of the hands and feet, as well as around the fingernails of the affected child. These blisters can cause pain and frequent inflammation.
