Question

My baby has contracted neonatal pneumonia, and I want to know how long neonatal pneumonia usually takes to heal? I am very worried about his condition.

Answer

Neonatal pneumonia includes aspiration pneumonia. Neonatal chemical inflammatory reactions/secondary infections caused by aspiration of amniotic fluid, meconium, or milk are collectively known as neonatal aspiration pneumonia. In addition to respiratory distress and difficulty breathing as the main clinical manifestations, chest X-rays show that the duration of lung inflammation changes is long. The nature, quantity, and depth of aspiration differ, as do the infectious pneumonias. For amniotic fluid aspiration pneumonia, it is recommended to: 1) symptomatic treatment: choose hood oxygen therapy or mechanical ventilation based on the degree of hypoxia; 2) infection prevention and control: choose broad-spectrum antibiotics for the treatment of Gram-negative bacteria.
