Question

A six-month-old baby recently has been experiencing vomiting, with Bloodshot present in the vomit. Subsequently, Bloodshot were also found in the baby’s stool. The parents have tried various methods, but the baby still refuses to eat. How should this situation be handled?

Answer

When blood is found in a baby’s stool, it is first necessary to determine whether the source of the blood is from the intestines or the anus. An anal bleed might be due to dry stool causing slight tears in the anus. If it is intestinal bleeding, it may be considered whether it is hemorrhagic necrotizing enterocolitis, but such enterocolitis usually accompanies abdominal pain and diarrhea. It is recommended that parents take the baby to a children’s hospital for a detailed examination to determine the cause of the bleeding. If diagnosed as anal bleeding, adjusting the diet to soften stool and using appropriate topical medications may be helpful. If it is caused by enteritis, hospitalization may be recommended.
