Question

My daughter is 10 years old, and her alkaline phosphatase level is 230. Other indicators are basically within the normal range. Is there any problem? Please advise, thank you!

Answer

Your alkaline phosphatase level is slightly elevated. If other transaminases are normal, there is no need for treatment at the moment. If other transaminases are abnormal, consider liver cell damage and consider liver protection treatment, and investigate the cause. When alkaline phosphatase levels rise, it may indicate osteomalacia, osteoporosis, rickets, fracture healing period, osteocarcinoma, malignant bone tumor, and metastasis of malignant tumor to bone. When alkaline phosphatase levels rise, it may indicate liver cystadenoma, liver tuberculosis, liver cirrhosis, cholestatic hepatitis, obstructive jaundice, secondary liver cancer, and primary liver cancer.
