Question

Who can tell me if neonatal jaundice infiltrating the brain can be treated well? I’ve just had a child of my own, and I see that some of my classmates’ children have this condition of jaundice infiltrating the brain. I’m worried that my child might have it too. What are the causes?

Answer

Neonatal jaundice is difficult to treat. Jaundice usually occurs within 2-3 days after birth and reaches its peak at 5-6 days. For full-term infants, jaundice will naturally fading after 2-3 weeks of birth. If bilirubin levels exceed 12, pathological jaundice needs to be considered. When bilirubin levels exceed 15, phototherapy must be performed. If bilirubin encephalopathy occurs, it may lead to sequelae and require treatment with nutrient neurons. I hope your baby recovers soon.
