Question

Currently, many newborns are diagnosed with neonatal sepsis. Parents want to know what symptoms this disease presents?

Answer

The initial symptoms of neonatal sepsis are often non-specific, especially in preterm infants. Common symptoms include reduced milk intake or refusal to feed, vomiting, drowsiness or restlessness, weak crying, fever or a drop in body temperature, and other non-specific manifestations, such as normal body temperature, low responsiveness, pale or gray complexion, and lack of energy and weight gain. If these symptoms are observed, immediate medical assistance should be sought. If the results of auxiliary examinations meet specific criteria, there should be a high suspicion of this condition.
