Question

What are the drawbacks of getting multiple Hepatitis B vaccinations? My child has been in this condition for some time, and I’m hesitant to give them medication. Please give me some advice from a doctor.

Answer

For newborns whose mothers are carriers of Hepatitis B, administering the Hepatitis B vaccine three times at 24 hours after birth, one month, and six months can significantly reduce the infection rate, which is known as the 016 regimen. If, at the same time as the Hepatitis B vaccine, three doses of Hepatitis B immunoglobulin are administered according to the 016 regimen, it can basically eliminate the possibility of newborns contracting the Hepatitis B virus. Generally speaking, getting an additional Hepatitis B vaccination does not cause any adverse effects.
