Question

My baby is four months and seven days old. She started eating rice noodles two months ago and then developed constipation. When I stopped giving her the rice noodles at three months old, she now has bowel movements three to four times a day, a bit loose, and green in color. Is there any problem? Thank you! Additional question: What does it mean to exclude infectious diarrhea? If it is indeed infectious diarrhea, what should I do?

Answer

Babies aged 5-6 months can be introduced to rice gruel, rice porridge, thin congee, egg yolks, fish puree, vegetable puree, and tofu. The correct feeding method should be to let the baby breastfeed as much as possible. If breast milk is insufficient, infant formula should be provided. If the baby has good appetite and defecates 3-4 times a day, there is usually no problem. However, if it occurs suddenly recently, it is important to exclude infectious diarrhea.
