Question

A one-month-old male baby is suffering from jaundice at six days old. Can the baby drink glucose injection? What is the method of use?

Answer

Drinking glucose water is ineffective for newborn jaundice and can increase the stomach burden. If you wish to give it, please note: it should not be overly sweet to avoid affecting breast milk. Jaundice should be excreted through drinking plenty of water, but not in excessive amounts. Generally, it is recommended to drink two to three times a day, avoiding both too much sweetness and too much quantity. It is suggested to reduce the amount of breast milk and feed formula milk first, then return to breastfeeding after the baby’s condition improves.
