Question

My child suffered a burn from boiling water on the evening of the 27th and is currently being treated with moist burn ointment. The current condition of the wound is shown in Figure 1, and Figure 2 shows the appearance after applying the ointment the next day. Will such a wound leave a scar? What is the cause of the uneven contours on the nose?

Answer

After a burn occurs, it is important to immediately immerse the affected area in clean cold water. The sooner cooling is applied, the better the effect, as it can effectively reduce pain and the severity of the burn. For minor burns (referring to first-degree burns where the skin is red but no blisters have formed), initial treatment can usually be done at home. First, wash the wound with cold tap water or diluted salt water, then apply purple root oil or burn ointment and cover with a bandage for upper limbs, lower limbs, or trunk wounds.
