Question

My baby is just 1.5 years old and was burned by boiling water. It was on the 30th when the burn occurred, and blisters formed. Now, the blisters have burst open. I’ve been applying hydrogen peroxide solution and spraying ice burn pain spray, but the baby cries out in pain whenever I apply these two types of medicine. What cream should I apply for the burned skin wound?

Answer

It is recommended to immediately stop using hydrogen peroxide for washing. Hydrogen peroxide is mainly effective against anaerobic bacteria, but there are no anaerobic bacteria on the skin surface. You can apply sulfadiazine silver to protect the wound, and it is not advisable to continue using hydrogen peroxide. If you absolutely need to use hydrogen peroxide, please use it after rinsing with saltwater or diluting it first. Considering that the baby is quite young, you can choose to use iodophor for disinfection, and then apply some aloe vera gel after disinfection.
