If a newborn develops jaundice along with other abnormal symptoms such as fever, drowsiness, decreased appetite, weak crying, abnormal body temperature, or no weight gain, there is a high suspicion of neonatal sepsis. Neonatal sepsis is a severe disease caused by bacterial infection with a high mortality rate. The most reliable method to confirm the disease is through blood bacterial culture. If the above symptoms appear, immediate medical assistance should be sought. Parents should remain calm and follow the doctor’s guidance for necessary examinations and treatment.
