Question

How should neonatal pneumonia be treated?

Answer

Neonatal pneumonia is typically caused by bacterial infections. It can occur before, during, or after childbirth. Under modern medical conditions, cephalosporins are commonly used for treatment, and ensuring adequate nutrition is provided. Oxygen therapy and nebulizer inhalation may also be administered as needed. The general treatment duration is about one week to ten days. However, for infants with severe pneumonia, heart failure, or respiratory failure, closer monitoring is required. Once the infection is controlled, the baby can gradually be discharged.
