Question

How should neonatal hyperthermia be treated?

Answer

The treatment measures for neonatal hyperthermia mainly include the following points:

  1. Warming Therapy: Mildly affected infants can be wrapped in warm blankets after a warm water bath and placed in a room with a temperature of 24~26°C, accompanied by a hot water bottle. The temperature of the hot water bottle can be gradually increased from 40°C to 60°C to quickly raise the body temperature to normal levels. Moderately to severely affected infants can first be placed on a far-infrared open-style warming bed, with the bed temperature adjusted to 1.5~2°C higher than the infant’s body temperature. The body temperature can be raised by 1°C every 30 minutes. As the infant’s body temperature rises, the temperature of the warming bed can be continuously increased. Once the body temperature reaches 35°C, the infant can be transferred to an enclosed warming incubator, with the internal temperature maintained at around 35°C. To reduce heat loss from radiation, transparent plastic sheets can be used to cover the slightly distant areas around the infant’s body.
