Hello! Viral encephalitis is more common in certain seasons. Usually, the cause of brain diseases is related to a history of colds (i.e., upper respiratory infections) in the past few days, and some cases are caused by mumps infection. Common symptoms include headache, vomiting, fever, and lassitude. Younger children may have more severe conditions. (Our department has had three cases in patients under 1 year old with poor prognosis and coma lasting over one week.) In terms of auxiliary examinations, an electroencephalogram may show abnormal activity. Doctors usually recommend a lumbar puncture to determine whether it is meningitis or empyema meningitis. If the condition is mild, appropriate measures can be taken. Treatment options include
