Question
My son is three and a half years old and has an inner double eyelid. I don’t know what happened. Every time one of his eyes becomes a double eyelid, he immediately gets a cold and fever, and it takes several days for him to recover. Is there a necessary connection between this change and the disease? Why does this happen every time? What is the principle behind it?
Answer
This is a normal phenomenon. After people are tired and exhausted, the single eyelid, which already has a slight crease, will temporarily deepen into a double eyelid. Similarly, if someone with double eyelids is tired, sick, or doesn’t get enough rest, they may develop triple eyelids. A cold and dehydration not only cause changes in the eyelids but also severely affect the normal metabolic function of the body. Therefore, during fever, one should drink plenty of fluids, including lots of plain water and fruit and vegetable juices. Especially beets and carrot juices are rich in vitamins and minerals. It is advisable to avoid solid foods during the cold until the condition improves.
