Question

My child is four years old, and I don’t know what’s been going on lately. He wets the bed every night and cries and screams, not sure if he’s been scared. Or maybe he’s wetting the bed because of a nightmare? I’d like to ask about a child’s bedwetting issue. Is it normal for a four-year-old to still wet the bed?

Answer

If a child doesn’t wet the bed regularly, it is generally considered normal. Considering that the child may have been startled or has some other issues, avoid giving them too much water before bedtime. Taking the child to the bathroom at a fixed time may significantly reduce bedwetting. Don’t give the child too much water before sleep. Always provide a reason. Train your child to urinate during the day, develop good living habits, and observe if it improves.
