Question
A six-month-old female infant was found to have a left hip joint α61, β61, and right hip joint α65, β59 during physical examination. Bilateral acetabular lips are visible, and the center of the femoral head ossification can be seen. How should this condition be handled?
Answer
Based on the description, this may be related to congenital hip dysplasia, also known as developmental hip dislocation or developmental hip dysplasia and hip developmental dysplasia. This is a common congenital malformation where the femoral head is located inside the joint capsule, losing its normal relationship with the acetabulum, and therefore cannot develop normally before or after birth. Immediate immobilization treatment is needed. It is recommended to provide the best treatment plan for infants and young children. The harness method can be used for treatment. If it cannot be reset within 4-6 weeks, manual adjustment can be considered.
