Question

What is Ewing Sarcoma?

Answer

Ewing sarcoma is a primary malignant bone tumor with a mesenchymal origin from the bone marrow, primarily composed of small round cells. The modern concept suggests that Ewing sarcoma is a small round cell tumor originating from the neural ectoderm in bones or soft tissues. The main symptoms are regional pain and swelling. Initially, the pain is usually not severe, intermittent, and exacerbated by activity, gradually increasing and becoming persistent. Ewing sarcoma is highly sensitive to radiotherapy, and after small doses of radiation, the tumor may shrink rapidly, and regional pain may significantly decrease or disappear.
