Question

How soon can it be determined if a baby has cerebral palsy?

Answer

For children with cerebral palsy, most often, there is a history of asphyxia and hypoxia at birth, or such a history in the womb. After birth, they may experience restlessness, crying, fatigue, or difficulty falling asleep. Early feeding difficulties may include challenges with eating, chewing, drinking water, and swallowing. Some children may have drooling and breathing difficulties. Typically, these abnormal phenomena can be observed within three months after birth, along with abnormal changes in muscle tone (such as increased or decreased muscle tone) and the persistence of primitive reflexes.
