Question

Our child was born with abnormal behavior, and after hospital examination, it was confirmed as cerebral palsy. We, the family, are deeply distressed by this. We would like to know about the treatment methods for pediatric cerebral palsy.

Answer

Cerebral palsy is a non-progressive syndrome of brain damage with diverse causes, which may be related to prenatal factors of the mother, such as infection, intrauterine growth restriction, trauma, or multiple pregnancies. The goal of clinical treatment is to improve the child’s various functions, enhance the quality of life, reduce joint deformities and soft tissue contractures, and try to avoid surgical treatment.
