Question
What are the general early symptoms of neonatal cerebral palsy?
Answer
The common early symptoms of neonatal cerebral palsy include the child’s eyes not moving, showing no response to stimuli, and lying still without movement, presenting a quiet state. Additionally, various motor impairments may occur, such as uncoordinated movements, asymmetrical movements, and rare random movements. Abnormal muscle tone, posture, and motor patterns are also relatively common. Motor development tends to be slower, for example, the child may not be able to assume a standing position from a prone position within 3 to 4 months. Children often cannot maintain a fixed posture and need to frequently adjust their standing position. They learn to walk later than normal children. To achieve a more stable balance while walking, their feet are wider apart, resulting in an unclear gait and poor directional control.
