Question
Hello, I am the mother of a premature baby. My baby has been discharged from the hospital for half a month, and both eyes have been producing eye discharge. It reappears soon after it is wiped away. How should I handle this?
Answer
Babies may have eye discharge, but it doesn’t necessarily mean their eyes are red. A lack of redness doesn’t always indicate a problem. If they are breastfeeding, it may improve. If they adapt well to a certain brand of formula milk, then that brand is suitable for your baby. However, if there are red blood vessels in the eyes, you should consult a doctor. It could be an eye inflammation that requires a medical examination. Please ensure good eye hygiene and encourage your baby to drink more water. Also, be attentive to other discomfort symptoms.
